What Our Clients Had to Say About Working With The Brian Kondo Real Estate Team | Edward




I’ve never had an issue dealing with clients who were not local, whether they no longer lived in the area, or were on vacation in another country or continent and across different time zones.  


 

If they were visiting family in France or Britain, I’d have to remember that they were at least 5 – 7 hours ahead of us here in the GTA.  If they were on the other side of the world in someplace like the Philippines, it would be 12 – 13 hours ahead of us.  


 

Back in the early 1990’s, I would need to send paperwork by courier if my client was overseas.  As we got into the late 1990’s, sending offers and other paperwork by fax was the latest technological advancement, although legally, all documents still had to have been signed in person, so if our client lived in another country, we had to courier the documents to be signed and returned.  It was expensive sending faxes since there were long-distance charges, and sending documents all over the world by courier was expensive too, but to me that was a cost of doing business and making things as easy and stress-free as possible for my clients was and still is the goal.


 

Once the turn of the century arrived, email took over.  As long as you had a scanner, you could scan and email docs to your client.  They could then print, sign and/or initial, scan and email the docs back.  If they didn’t have access to a scanner, they could still fax the docs back to me.


 

Over the past 10 years or so, a new way of executing legal documents became a game-changer.  As long as someone has a dedicated email address, docs could be signed and initialed electronically.  DocuSign was probably the first and most well-known electronic signature company, but there are now probably a hundred or more electronic signature companies out there.


 

Edward hired me to sell his condo apartment in Ajax.  It was 1996, and since he now lived in North Bay, all documents were executed using fax machines.  In some ways, it was pretty straightforward, since there was no time zone difference.  


 

However, he appreciated the fact that I used the most up-to-date technology to send and receive the listing paperwork, offers and anything else he needed to sign and/or initial.  Hard to believe that things have changed so much over the past 30 years or so.  From fax to scanners to electronic signatures – and I’ve made sure we’ve stayed cutting-edge, no matter the expense, since that’s what is best for our clients!
